Beckers Shanghai Rewarded for Superior Fire Protection

Beckers Group’s subsidiary in Shanghai recently received an award for superior fire protection from the local authorities. The local Beckers’ factory is a Fire Protection Key Entity, a site with increased risk or a serious out-come in case of a fire and thus under special scrutiny.

The Fire Protection Bureau assesses companies’ risk management and evaluates the effectiveness of the system in case of a fire emergency on a regular basis. While it was the first time that Beckers Shanghai has won the award for superior fire protection, the entity has been honored for excellent health and safety procedures before. Fire protection is part of Beckers’ extensive Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) program and plays a big role at all sites.

Karsten Eller, COO of Beckers Group, comments: “This award is an important recognition of Beckers’ efforts to keep our employees safe and protect the environment. All our factories worldwide run on high internal standards, which in many cases exceed the local regulations significantly. We are proud that this is also recognized by the communities in which we operate.”

Jayakumar Rajamoney, Global Environment, Health and Safety Director, adds: "Competency and awareness are key elements to ensure that we are all working in a safe environment. Company-wide events such as last year's Global Safety Day, where people among many other things trained how to effectively put out a fire, support this. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved."

Beckers’ EHS efforts are documented in the annual sustainability report and with some more details on EHS on our website.
