The automotive industry appreciates plastics for their light weight, impact resistance and design flexibility. However, plastics need protection in order to withstand scratching, tough weather conditions (UV radiation, heat and cold, snow and water) and frequent contact with chemicals.

Automakers also have extremely high standards when it comes to colour matching. The color and appearance of plastic automotive parts must match the vehicle’s coated metal – even though the substrates have different properties.

Beckers coatings are designed to ensure that bumpers and other moulded plastic components have the exact same appearance, colour and durability as the metal vehicle bodywork. Our paint specialists inspect each finish from five different angles using different light sources to ensure a 100% match. Comprehensive durability tests replicate conditions on different parts of the vehicle to ensure maximum quality and reliability.

At Beckers, we have a dedicated team of chemists and colourists working hand in hand with OEM designers and engineers to pioneer forward-thinking coating technologies. Our development work together with automotive manufacturers has resulted in innovations such as EcoChrome® - chrome effects on plastic parts available in different shades (Volvo), Matt Clearcoat for full vehicle bodies and plastic parts (VW) and High gloss black IMC for roof panels (Daimler). Our latest development Beckqua®Color is a new range of waterborne coatings, offering unique benefits that includes high solid content and enhanced appearance result - a smoother film surface that eliminate any visible orange peel effect.
